Mantis Shrimp in sand

The Mantis Shrimp has the most complex eyes in the entire animal kingdom. Humans only have 3 types of color receptor cones, the Mantis Shrimp has 16, including 6 which can detect ultraviolet light. Each eye moves independently and creates two sets of visual information.

The mantis shrimp is able to adapt its color to match its surroundings. On a sandy bottom the mantis shrimp changes to a lighter shade.
