Black Pearls of Manihi

Black pearls, jewels of the ocean. The Mana spirit of Manihi thrives around the turquoise lagoon famous for its oyster, Pinctada margaritifera, that is the setting for Tahiti’s first black pearl farm, founded in 1965. The atoll’s islanders have been very passionate about producing pearls, and consider pearls to be a genuine incarnation of the beauty of the Tahitian lagoons.
