Coral Triangle

Coral Triangle, aka Amazon of the Seas, a large, roughly triangular-shaped region made up of Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, East Timor, Papua New Guinea, and the Solomon Islands, is named for its staggering number of corals. The region covers just 1.5% of the planet’s surface, but is home to 30% of the world's coral and 77% of all coral species are found here, making it home to the highest coral and fish diversity in the world.

As one of the most endangered ecosystems on the planet, the health of these reefs is essential to the preservation of Earth’s biodiversity.
