Wrecked in Hawai'i

The island of O'ahu, with its unique craters, endemic marine life and sunken wrecks that create fully intact marine ecosystems.

The Vought F4U Corsair, a propeller-driven fighter aircraft built for the US Navy in WWII, went down into the Pacific near its current location in 1945. The cause of the accident was said to be 100% engine failure, resulting in a crash landing so perfectly executed that while the pilot floated on the surface in his lifejacket awaiting rescue, the plane sank completely intact.
